No, it is not insurance.  Medical cost sharing is when people agree to share medical expenses through an act of voluntary membership. Funds that are contributed via membership are combined and then disbursed to those members qualifying medical expenses , this is called “healthsharing”.

Yes, memberships are month to month; therefore you can withdraw your membership at any time. If you choose to withdraw membership, then, you will become inactive. And, if you decide to withdraw your membership mid-month, then you'll be considered a member until the end of that month (no partial or full month refund). Furthermore, If you withdraw your membership and rejoin, you will be required to pay an additional enrollment fee. See Guidelines for more information.

No. Remember that Ansari is not an insurance entity. As a member of Ansari you voluntarily make monthly contributions to assist other members with their medical expenses. This amount is combined with the amounts from other members to provide a fund available to help those members who need help with their expenses. Again, this is subject to certain criteria and restrictions.¬

There is a minimum of a two month waiting period before sharing begins. See the Guidelines for more information.

It is possible to draw parallels between insurance deductibles and Ansari minimum Initial Unsharable Amount (IUA). This is the minimum purely out-of-pocket amount that a member must have paid before sharing begins. This could be seen as similar, however, remember this is not insurance.

No. Ansari HealthShare is not insurance.  Any and all applicable penalties still apply for individuals who are Ansari members who do not otherwise meet federal and/or state coverage mandates, when and where they exist. However, The ACA, Obama penalty was “removed” for not having a creditable insurance that included the 10 essential benefits for individuals.

No. However, we encourage members not to exceed their IUA to their providers as this affects our price negotiations. See the Guidelines for more information.

First, check and see if this service requires a pre-notification form or not. Call Customer Service to make certain if you're not sure. Before any treatment make sure you tell the provider that you are a “CASH PAY” person.  Ask your provider to give you a Ansari 1500 form or the HCFA form with all the codes for your procedure(s).  If they fail to submit the form to Ansari, you are responsible for submitting the bill to us. Again, this is before treatment so that we can review the bill and negotiate the cost of service. This form is on Ansari website under Members, see "Submitting Medical Expenses" and download the MEDICAL EXPENSE SHARING REQUEST FORM for your doctor to complete or they should have a HCFA1500/UB92 form already.

Ansari advises its members to inform providers upfront that they belong to a medical sharing organization, and that they are “cash” patients. Members should ask providers to bill them directly. However, if a provider requires a member to pay in advance for medical services, a member can submit the bill that is eligible for sharing after your IUA has been paid. Ansari will pay the bill according to your plan details. Keep in mind that your monthly contributions and other fees must be current and not delinquent for Ansari to forward any payments.

It general takes from 2 weeks to 2 months from receiving your bills and to pay for a medical claim.
